「Unn,, I drunk too much today」

My name is Ryosuke, a 22 year old man that is aspiring to be a light novel author.

The reason I’m「aspiring」is because my first light novel was just released today.

In order to become a writer I’ve always had to contribute stories to free novel posting sites.

Generally the publication of a novel is decided by how many favourites you get from the readers on the site, but I wasn’t that popular except for my novel 「yuusha tensei 」which was rated 「good」by the readers. And today was the day my first volume was going to be released.

The work which allowed me to get published for the first time is called「 yuusha tensei」.The story is about a Highschool student named Kazuma, a man who is reincarnated in a isekai world as a hero, and defeats the demon king (planned) as it was a fantasy transmigration setting. [TL note: isekai = different]

The reason the novel became so popular despite being such a cliche story was because of the well written rivalry between the protagonist and the villain.

The rivals name was Lord Carlo-De-Medici.

Since the beginning of the story Carlo has been a threat to the hero and eventually conflicts caused by jealousy lead to him becoming a subordinate of the demon lord. When the hero finally defeats him it causes him to reform and once again become a kind person.

He is a single, hard to oppose 22 year old gladiator. He’s a character that was made using the personalities I hate most.

Carlo is the exact opposite of my open minded mentality. He is impudent, has an uncontrolled and violent personality, and his debauchery goes beyond the limits of my wildest dreams.

Normally a person would only think about giving priorityto the main character’s development, but I also gave significance to the feelings and characterization of Carlo.

The reason the series was popular was because of Carlo.

It’s reached a point where half of the comments I received from the readers are based on the pro’s and con’s of Carlo.

「My head feels dizzy. I’m not used to drinking this much liquor.」

Today was the day we celebrated my first ever publication, so I had a dinner party with my boss, Sakiyama the editor.

Mr. Sakiyama liked Carlo’s character and was constantly complimenting it.

He said that he is looking forward to the story from now on.

When I heard him praise me I embarrassingly called him 「sensei」.

Since I don’t drink liquor or spend that much money I drank unfamiliar wines based on their recommendations.

Sakiyama told me today as well,「Sensei, you should take a taxi because you look unsteady」. But since it was a waste of money I walked back home.

I was thinking about future developments to the story while walking around unsteadily.

After this Carlo finally falls at the hands of demon lord.

There were still various ideas that I wanted to explore with Carlo.

Carlo’s opposition against Kazuma, the hero, continues to escalate and even while he’s being showered with blame by society and betrayed by his comrades, he continues to commit hideous acts.

The story direction looks good.

I also want to try and liven up the story a bit more so that it’ll have a good conclusion and sell more books. I wonder what kind of development would be good in this situation――.

I was absorbed in these thoughts as I walked back home.

Looks like I drank more than I can handle.

I crossed the pedestrian road crossing and suddenly noticed that the light was red.

「Danger!」

I heard a voice speaking to me as a car with its headlights on approached me at high speeds.

Ah―― by the time I realised what was happening I was already flying in the air.

I don’t want to- I don’t want to die in such a place.

There are still things ――I wanted to write.
